"Candyman: Day of the Dead" (1999)

Candyman: Day Of The Dead is not worth reviewing.  A lackluster plot with a poor slasher atmosphere not accustomed to the Candyman films.  Too much nudity, too much gore, and not enough story.  Tony Todd continues his chilling portrayal of the Candyman, but it is missing something.  To be blunt, there's not enough style, if any at all.  With Clive Barker off the project, the quality has gone down the drain along with pretty much everything else.  Director Turi Meyer, aside from some episodes of Angel & Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has never directed anything of value which includes this film.  This was a direct-to-cable sequel (HBO to be exact), and it is painfuly clear why.  It's not worth paying money to see, and not worth wasting your time over.  There's not even any "Shakespearean" dialogue from the Candyman, and the artist twist is a bad one.  Wsihmaster 2 was at least enjoyable in a cheesy way where as this disgrace has no redeeming qualities.  What's even worse is that Tony Todd actually executive produced this piece of garbage!  For shame, Candyman, for shame.  With a Baywatch babe as the female lead here, it's no wonder that this was direct-to-cable - it's the only way they'd get anyone to watch it!  If I typed anymore about this movie, it'd be a waste.
