The third entry, which I consider an improvement compared to part 2,
opens with Ash being transported by the powers of the Evil Dead back in
time together with his Oldsmobile, chain saw, and his trusty "boomstick".
He finally ends up in the year 1300 or so, back in time, at medieval England
and meets King Arthur. He's mistaken for a member of the enemy’s
army and is thrown into a pit filled with zombie/demons. But after
a quick chain saw fight, Ash climbs out of the pit and convinces Arthur
to let him go. Ash tries to find out how to get home, and the wiseman
Joe tells him that he must use the Necronomicron to get back to his own
time. Ash sets out to find the demonic book, but the Evil Dead does
all it can to stop him by creating small doppelgangers of him, which Ash
manages to kill them, but then he meets his full-sized evil twin.
After giving him a gunshot blast to the head, Ash buries him and continues
to search for the book. He eventually finds it, and says the magic
words to get access to it. But he sort of forgets the last words
in the spell, and the evil brings Evil Ash back from the dead along with
an army of living skeletons. Ash and Arthur's men barricade themselves
in the castle while Evil Ash and his undead skeletons try to break in,
doing everything they can to get their hands on the Necronomicron.
An awesome movie! Great fun all the way with spoofs of everything
from the "Three Stooges" to "Jason and the Argonauts." Sam Raimi
again fills the movie with cool camera angels and cartoonish humour, which
fits good since the movie is more comedy than horror. Even non-horror
fans will probably love this film as munch as I did. Also known as
"The Medieval Dead" and "Evil Dead 3" outside U.S. |
