Trailer
Synopsis: Retelling of the start of Jason Voorhees' (Derek Mears)
murderous history at Camp Crystal Lake. The film takes elements from
the first three films, and combine them into a richer story with more ferocity
than previously seen.
News Notes:
-
Jason is said to wear both the original burlap sack, and later, don the
iconic hockey mask. More of an origin for the mask will be present
in the film.
-
The film is produced by Platinum Dunes, who were responsible for the remake
and prequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre films in recent years.
Friday The 13th is directed by Marcus Nispel, who also directed
the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
-
New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures became embroiled in a legal dispute
over this film. While New Line owned the basic character, name, and
trademark copyrights, Paramount owns the rights to the first eight films,
including those pertaining to remakes. The two studios eventually
agreed to co-produce the film.
-
Nana Visitor (Star Trek: DS9) was cast as Pamela Voorhees.
Though, various reports from a mid-October, 2008 test screening state that
she has been cut from the film, as well as young Jason (Caleb Guss).
Bare in mind, this was only a test screening, and further re-edits could
allow for either or both to return to the final theatrical cut. CREDIT:
