I have now seen FREDDY VS. JASON.
OH
MY
GOD
I love this movie. I was going to start by listing my favorite
Friday movies in order, but I now realize that it doesn't matter at all,
because this is Number 1 on my list. As a Friday movie, it's great.
As a Nightmare movie, it's great. As a movie, it's great.
Ronny Yu is a great director all around. The audience LOVED this
movie. They were 100 percent into it. I stayed for the focus
group, and it was very well received. Only 3 guys out of 20 didn't
care for it, but they then stated that they weren't really fans to begin
with.
Freddy is great. He's back, he has kick ass one liners, and I
just think he is great. Jason . . . . . . Ken Kirzinger definitely
looks bigger than Kane did. When him and Freddy are fighting, it's obvious
to me why they went with him. Unfortunately . . . . he doesn't have Kane's
presence. In Friday 7 when Tina and Jason are in the basement, Kane
did this breathing thing that made you believe Jason was really pissed
off. Ken doesn't give that feeling off, ever. It seems like
the director just said "Ken, stand here, now walk forward." Don't
get me wrong, I didn't hate him, it was just obviously not the same Jason.
BUT I STILL THOUGHT HE WAS AWESOME.
Freddy and Jason fight, obviously. Look at the movie's title!
These scenes are fantastic. That's all I'll say about that. As for
the ending, I liked it. But, I actually would understand if it was
changed a little, and I might even welcome it.
Also, hilariously, when Kelly Rowland first shows up on screen, people
booed! But overall, she's really not that bad. As for her "E! New's
Live" clip, in which she told Freddy that she had put better things in
the toilet, thankfully that line has been cut. But her scene right
there is really classic. The acting from the leads (Monica Keena
and Jason Ritter) was ok, but very forgettable. It just wasn't all
that good. Meh. Lauren Lee Smith is NOT in this movie. She,
like Brad Renfro, was replaced. She was replaced by Katherine Isabelle.
GREAT KILLS, all around.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! It will satisfy Friday fans and Nightmare
fans all around, I have no doubt. I don't want to spoil any of the
movie, but I do want to tide you over by giving you a Freddy one liner
in spoiler tags that got a rousing applause from the audience. If
the mods see fit to delete it, fine. But if you don't want to see
it, don't read it!

Freddy: How sweet....Dark meat....
Sean Cunningham and Bob Shaye were both in attendance. I know
this because they both had their seats marked so no one else would sit
in them. They have to be pleased with how this screening went.
It went terrificly. At the focus group, we all agreed that the premise
seems hokey, but it is pulled off in such a great way, you really buy it!
It doesn't come off as cheesy. I can't wait to see this again.
As for the music, it was a mixture of Nightmare on Elm Street music,
and Friday music from parts 3, 9, and a few others.
I give the movie a 10 out of 10. I base that on enjoyment and
the creativity of the writers. |
