For over fifteen years, we have been teased with the false promises of seeing two of the biggest modern horror icons, Freddy Krueger & Jason Voorhees, to collide in one big screen showdown to the end.  Now, come this August 15th, 2003, we will FINALLY see this epic horror showdown hit the big screen.  This page has been created to keep you all updated on the status of 'FREDDY vs. JASON'.  Through the numerous false scripts and rumored premises, we'll give you only CONFIRMED information, and that means, if it doesn't come from or isn't confirmed by NEW LINE CINEMA, then you most likely WON'T find it here.  So, stay posted to this page for further updates on 'FREDDY vs. JASON'.

8.15.03
 - The FATEFUL day has arrived, and Garth doesn't cease to surprise me!  Garth Franklin of Dark Horizons has an interview he conducted with, guess who?  Mr. Robert Englund at the San Deigo Comic Con!  Plus, he has about five POSITIVE reviews on the news page as we speak.  I do not know if these are old ones being re-posted or not, but I KNOW he hasn't had that many online at one time!  Just scroll down beyond the news headlines, and you'll find the appropriate links.  I'm seein' the movie soon, but never soon enough!

8.14.03
 - HOURS!  A matter of HOURS away!  Hopefully none of you are suffering from the power outage in the Northeastern United States right now (if you are, then you probably aren't reading this thing until Friday anyway).  Oh well, enough of that.  ONWARD!  BoxOfficeMojo.com reports the following number of screens for the movies being released this weekend.  Note that "FREDDY vs. JASON" has the VERY most, and has passed the so-called "sweet spot" of theatre screens (that being "3,000" screens).

Freddy vs. Jason - 3,014
Uptown Girls - 2,495
Grind - 2,253
Open Range - 2,075

Also, tomorrow, Bloody Disgusting will post their HIGHLY positive review  for "FREDDY vs. JASON".  Brad "Mr. Disgusting" Miska attended the Chicago screening this past Monday, which, my friend Jason Pavlik ALSO was at!  Reviews will FLOOD the internet this weekend, you can BET on it!  Expect reviews from Joe & myself at the latter end of the weekend.  Again, if you want to submit your full review to us, PLEASE do so!

Also, Andre from Fridaythe13thforums.com JUST stated this warning about the E! Behind The Scenes special of "FREDDY vs. JASON" to ALL:

Nobody watch the Behind The Scenes on E! I have been spoiled WAAAY TOO MUCH!

I'M SO MOTHER FUCKING PISSED BECAUSE I JUST SAW SOME THINGS THAT I WOULD'VE LOVED IN THE MOVIE.

8.13.03
 - Keppin' it goin'!  Creature-Corner and Moviefone have interviews with Robert Englund.  Also, Fangoria has a report from AICN's 'Camp Hack-N-Slash' event featuring a screening of the film.  And Canoe.ca (also the home of SLAM! Wrestling) posted an article from the Calgary Sun on "FREDDY vs. JASON"!  Also, check out the full MSN chat transcript with Robert Englund!  We'll keep scroungin'!

8.12.03
 - It's SO very close!  And Hollywood.com has a nice video interview with Robert Englund & Ken Kirzinger.  There is some new, extended footage here, and may spoil a bit for you, but it will wetten your hunger for this film.  Plus, the official site has a series of interviews with Englund, Ronny Yu, Kirzinger, and others.  Also, my friend Jason Pavlik was at the Chicago screening of the film, and he was BLOWN THE FUCK AWAY!!!  It was the FULL film, and well, he says that this can't be compare to the previous films in EITHER series because it's so much its own film.  I'll have him write a more proper review after Friday (when we BOTH see it together!).  Joe & myself will write reviews for it as well, and if, after Friday, you have a full review you wish us to post, just send it my way.  Take care!

Finally, there's a fine article in this week's edition of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY entitled "MONSTER'S BRAWL".  No spoilers present, and EW made certain of that.  A nice article, and even though, you may have already read most of the stuff in it, it's still cool to read.  Soak it ALL up!  The newest issue of Fangoria, #226, has part one of their "FREDDY vs. JASON Rejected Scripts" article.  It's out now, if you haven't already caught it!  Also, thanks goes out to Mr. Jeff Katz for providing a list of upcoming talk show appearances by the stars of "FREDDY vs. JASON":

 - UPDATES on the Chicagoland release party!  A list of bands, prizes, ticket prices, flyer updates, and more are listed at THE RED X REBELLION COMPENDIUM!  Also, three clips from the film have appeared on the Official Site today!  Of course, this is RED HOT spoiler material, and almost NO money in the world would get me to watch them before I view the film ('cause there's ALWAYS some kind of money, just finding someone to pay it is the key thing).  One clip of the "RAVE" scene, one of Freddy's dream world stalkings / transformations, and the third is the TV spot which was posted on Apple.com last week.  Also, last week, the NewLineShop.com FvJ section was linked from the official site as well.

Also, Celluloid Shockers & Bloody Disgusting have interviews up they conducted with Robert Englund.  Also, MSN.com has details on a LIVE chat to be conducting on Tuesday, August 12th with Mr. Englund at 8:00pm Eastern Time, 7:00pm Central Time.  Also, iFilm has a series of clips from ANOTHER Englund interview (damn, he gets around, doesn't he?).  And Fox News has an article about upcoming horror films, and "FREDDY vs. JASON" is the main focus of the article (featuring an interview w/Sean S. Cunningham).

8.5.03

7.29.03
WOO HOO!!!  Apple.com has PERFECT quality versions of the FIRST TV SPOT!  I'm gonna call it the "Blue Logo" spot because this one features a blue New Lne logo (as usual), and the 2nd features a RED New Line logo.  So, check it out.  Also, Camp Blood has had the Red Logo spot online in Windows Media format.  Just click "Save As" or "Download to Disk", and launch it in your Windows Media Player.  Just hit "FILMS", "FvsJ", and then "Video Clips".  I don't want to direct link to the file, just seems wrong to me (considering me being 25 GB over my monthly bandwidth limit).

Also, I got great news for myself.  The Marcus Theatres here in Orland Park, IL, hasn't been showing the trailer before ANY of the films that New Line has specified it to be presented before (MATRIX RELOADED, TERMINATOR 3), but as I walked into the lobby this afternoon to go see "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN" again?  The vertical banners, AND the FINAL POSTER all setup in a nice, backlit display!  All I said was, "It's about damn time!"  I also viewed the final poster at two bus stop booths in my area as I was cruising about this past weekend.  I took a digital photo of it, but it's a reflective surface, so you see about as much of me, the road, the lawn, and the gas station behind me as you do Freddy & Jason.  Well, I'm boring you.  Enjoy the TV Spots!

7.24.03
FreddyvsJason.com has 12 photos from the Las Vegas weigh-in online in the "GALLERY" section.  The one featuring Freddy in the boxing robe is worth a laugh in itself!  Also, Yahoo! Movies has interviews with Ronny Yu, Robert Englund, and Ken Kirzinger.

Also, tonight we have come to a decision about Las Vegas footage, but first, the reason why.  Sometime in the last 24 hours, Michael Oretta's WickedWinds.com had its account suspended because it was reported to Michael's web hosting company that he was hosting copyrighted material - the "Freddy vs. Jason" TV spot.  In light of this, we (Joe & myself) have assest the situation and have decided that the risk of the same happening to FOREVER HORROR and Michalak.Org is too great.  So, I have removed the appropriate files from this domain, and they shall not reappear in conjunction with this domain or website.  We have spent nearly five years bringing FH to this point of evolution, and we will NOT risk all we have worked so hard to create & maintain over 3 files that equal 50 seconds of audio & video and about 5 MBs of web space.  We apologize to those who are so very eager to view this footage, but where FOREVER HORROR is concerned, it's the only wise decision we can make.  Plus, those files were burning up my bandwidth like a brush fire.

7.23.03
I'm a bit tired today, so straight ot the news.  Earlier this week (I know, I'm behind on the updates), the official website got a few nice additions.  Sections with biographies on the cast and filmmakers were added.  The main stars, Englund & Kirzinger have thier pages along with the young main cast.  Director Ronny Yu, producer Sean S. Cunningham, writers Damian Shannon & Mark J. Swift, and more have their bios online as well.  Also, you can catch some clips from the soundtrack on the official site, but if you want to hear the WHOLE album, hit Roadrunner Records' "Freddy vs. Jason" website.

Also, webmaster of WickedWinds.com and fellow Fridaythe13thforums.com board member, Michael Oretta, has captured the FIRST TV SPOT!  It is online here, and this is packed with new footage, one-liners and just an awesome voice-over!  You MUST see this!  New Line contact, Jeff Katz, stated that such spots have begun airing on the New TNN as of TODAY!  So, be on the lookout for them!  If any more appear on TV or online, rest assure we'll bring them to you.

And on another multimedia note.  I have been forced to remove the Las Vegas footage from the site until August 1st due to my narrow margin of bandwidth remaining.  That page has been the most accessed entry & exit point for the entire DOMAIN!  So, I had to target that which was undoubtedly burning the most bandwidth.  Once August 1st rolls around in one week, those files will be available once again as they were before.  I'm doing this sort of thing to avoid ahving to pay extra charges for the extra bandwidth that would most likely be used by the end of the month.  Bare with this, the week will shoot passed (you hope, anyway).  I apologize for any inconvience this may have caused you, but it has become neccessary.

7.21.03
One juicy update today.  The following is a report posted on AICN about the "Freddy vs. Jason" presentation at this past weekend's San Deigo Comic Con.  We also have two photos, also courtesy of AICN, featuring Englund in the first and Ronny Yu, Robert Englund, and Ken Kirzinger in the second (no costumes or make-up this time).  Beware, there is a description of a two minute scene that was shown at the convention that I have BARELY read.  So, SPOILERS are ahead.
SD_ENGLUND.JPGSD_TRIO.JPG

Jason producer Sean S. Cunningham handled most of the moderator duties for this panel that featured Robert Englund (Freddy), Jason (Ken Kirzinger) and director Ronny Yu.  Englund was asked pretty quickly about the possibility of a new V series or TV movie. Englund announced that due to the success of Spielberg's TAKEN, V will be resurrected as a new 3 to 4 hour mini-series to premiere in 2004.

[SPOILERS START]
A sneak look at FREDDY VS. JASON was shown. It's a scene that lasts about 2 minutes. Two teens, a fat one and a skinny one, are at a party... they've slipped away into a cornfield to smoke the dope and drink the Everclear, both unaware that Jason is standing right behind them. They look around, see him standing there... stand motionless and Jason quickly grabs the skinny one's head and snaps it around, twisting it backwards on his body. The fat one screams and throws the Everclear on Jason and lights him on fire. Calmly, Jason takes out his machete which catches fire as it's drawn.  The fat teen runs and Jason follows, lighting the corn on fire. There's a high shot looking down at the running teen and pursuing Jason... the trail of fire marking his route. The fat teen seems to be outrunning Jason. He bursts out of the corn, back to the party. Suddenly a flaming machete comes flying out of the corn, impaling the fat teen. It was flung so fast that the blade is still aflame, sticking out of the boy's chest.  The party goers scatter as Jason comes out of the corn, retrieves his weapon and begins hacking away. Blood sprays everywhere. It's a glorious scene. If the rest of the movie is as gory and fun as the clip they showed, then as a guy who spent 4 consecutive Halloweens dressed as Freddy, I can't wait to see the whole film!
[SPOILERS END]

7.17.03
It's 1:52am, and I just uploaded the segment from "Extra".  Mostly footage from the trailer, but has an extension of Freddy's dialogue about how "big, dumb, & slow" Jason is at the press conference.  Still good stuff~

7.16.03
WireImage has an entire gallery of photos from the Las Vegas press conference / weigh-in.  Though, if you want to access the full size versions, you'll have to slap down some money to register with the website.  But probably the funniest moment reported from the event was Robert Englund, in full-on Freddy costume & personae, talked trash about Jason, called one female reporter a "BITCH", and at the end, tossed the table and began a sort of stare down confrontation.  ComingSoon.net has a report sent in from a fan in attendence, and it's pretty good.  Also, for those looking for actual footage of the event, turn into either Entertainment Tonight, E! News Daily, or Extra tonight.  Our friend at New Line and fellow Fridaythe13thforums.com board member, Jeff Katz, has confirmed this much for us all.  Still no word on WHEN or WHERE the film's TV Spots will appear, but from the report above, they're even BETTER than the trailer!  Definitely more intense.  Can't wait.  We'll do our best to snag whatever footage we can tonight from the aforementioned shows.  Also, a review from an apparent screening New York City that seemed to slip passed us is linked via the appropriate page in this section.  Limited spoilers are present in the review.

UPDATE #2: We don't fail when it comes to "Freddy vs. Jason"!  We encoded the Las Vegas segments from "E! News Daily" and "Entertainment Tonight".  The intro of the E! segment isn't there because my damn VCR was being an unresponsive bitch!  Anyway, you get the juicy stuff.  A nice bit of Freddy's trash talking can be found on that one, and a small bit of slowed down NEW footage of Freddy & Jason battling it out in the flaming cabin scene viewed in the trailer is on the E.T. segment.  Neither segment is too long, but it's at least worth the download.  These clips can be found on the Multimedia Archive page.  We'll try to snag some of our own stills tomorrow, but the footage aired on FOX news and a few other places.  We're gonna try getting what we can from the replay of "Extra" late tonight, but no promises.

7.14.03
Well, for those interested in what other promotional items New Line has in store will probably be disappointed.  A hat,a t-shirt, and a pair of sunglasses.  The first two bare the film's title logo, and the shades are just black & red.  Also, the banner you may have seen in theatres will be available for purchase, but they will be miniature versions of the theatrical banners.  No word on HOW much smaller they will be.  Other than that, nothing.  Just seems rather dull & plain for all the energy they've put into the film so far.  Hopefully the final poster will be available for purchase soon, but no word on that as of yet.  You can view a photo of the hat, t-shirt, and sunglasses below.

We've got a few things for today.  First, JeffKatz over at Fridaythe13thforums.com has stated that the press conference being held this coming Tuesday, July 15th, will be recorded on video, and will eventually be available on the "FREDDY vs. JASON" DVD (which, depending on the film's theatrical ongevity, could be released in, say, March 2004).  Anyway, Jeff is an employee of New Line Cinema, and has worked very closely on this film, so his word is solid.  Now, the second piece of news concerns the hopeful second trailer.  There will be none.  I received the following email reply from the official site today, and they have been accommodating & 100% accurate on everything I've inquired of them (meaning, they are professional, succinct, & honest):

The new site redesign looks FANTASTIC, and I love the new features!

Just awesome stuff you're putting into this film and this site.  I
merely have one question that's been nagging at many of us fans as of
late:  "Will there be a second trailer for FREDDY vs. JASON?"  Any sort
of information you can provide would be stellar, thanks!

The cover for the film's "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" is available for viewing on this page and the Multimedia Archive.  Also, you can check out Roadrunner Records UK's own "Freddy vs. Jason" website.  Nothing much more than what we've already reported on, but worth a bookmark if you care about the soundtrack.

7.7.03
The links to those three images of Lochlyn Munroe as "Deputy Scott Stubbs"  have been fixed on the MULTIMEDIA ARCHIVE.  Sorry about that.  We're an edge of some awesome news on a few fronts.  Keep posted here 'cause this news could break any day now.  BUt I'll tell you now that the trailer for "FREDDY vs. JASON" should be shown before this week's Friday release of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (starring Sean Connery), and eventually before the "Tomb Raider" sequel, and the third "American Pie" film, "American Wedding".  No word yet on if these films will feature a second, full-length trailer or not.  No news on IF there will be a second trailer, but we can only hope that we'll get a juicier trailer that reveals some plot and doesn't just present an action montage.  I just want MORE to fuel my fire for this film.  We'll keep you updated!

UPDATE #2: Three stills from the official site's 'desktop image toolkit' have been added to the image archive, but with scaled the resolution down from 300ppi (pixels per inch) to 72ppi (standard resolution).  Two of Freddy, one of Jason.  Check 'em out, they're VERY good quality, and are located with the promo images in the "OFFICIAL NEW LINE CINEMA IMAGES" section.

7.2.03
The FREDDYvsJASON.com website has been redesigned!  It still has MOST of the same content, but some new stuff as well.  The old desktop images are gone, and replaced with three new, and pretty damn cool ones.  Same photos in the image gallery, no new trailer yet, but some cool new features are present.  First off, a timeline of each series.  Documenting the release of each film, the television series', and so on.  A boxing match-like tale-of-the-tape for Freddy & Jason, a new poll question, and more.  Also, they have a custom desktop toolkit to download for PC or MAC which features some NEW high resolution promotional stills.  I may post them, in lower resolution, later on, but for now, I'll let you soak in the official site changes.  Though, this is the THIRD time I've signed up for their email site updates, and I still have not received updates via email!  Anyway, the site looks quite different.  I'm sure you'll be put off by the stark constrast from the old black, dark look to the new white & gray look, but it's a good look nonetheless.  Definitely check it out, the new features are just down right cool!

Also, the news we reported yesterday about Bloody-Disgusting having all those free passes to the test screening in Las Vegas?!  Well, Creature Corner has the same thing.  It's 100 passes, but they come in pairs, and so, it's 50 sets of 2 passes.  They basically have the same deal as B-D.  Just hit their main page for ALL the details!

UPDATE #2: We have very sorry news for all of you interested in the Vegas screening contests offered by several websites (including the aforementioned Creature Corner & Bloody-Disgusting). B-D has all the sad news.  Basically, New Line WON'T have a print of the film in Vegas.  It's just the press conference, PERIOD!  There's no screening of the film AT ALL!  New Line has a set of gifts / prizes for those who wrote in to get the passes from the appropriate sites (or you can choose to cancel altogether), and in the future, will be sending you tickets for the Freddy vs Jason screening in your area (pending screening schedule).  Check with your respective website (via email if they haven't posted an update on this yet) to see how they're handling the situation.

7.1.03
It's a few hours early for this, but it would better be seen up here than below the last update.  BLOODY-DISGUSTING HAS 50 PASSES FOR A LAS VEGAS TEST SCREENING!  It's a press conference earl int he day, and the test screening will be held that night.  I won't post full details here because they have a good amount of them, but they have one thing to say if you're going to email them in regards of acquiring a pair of passes:

"Only E-Mail me if you can 100% attend this event, you will recieve two tickets . . . . you must attend the conference to attend the screening!"

Here's the event info as it's known at this time.  Keep posted to B-D for the latest on this event.

WHEN:
Tuesday, July 15th, 2003
Press Conference: 10:00 a.m.

WHERE:
Bally's Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas
Room TBD

6.30.03
Well, I'll start out with the good news.  Site contributor, Steven Adelmund, scored an interview Robert Englund himself for his website All Things Horror.  The interview will hit his site shortly.  Now, for the damn right shit news....

Bloody-Disgusting and MTV.com bring us the following soundtrack news for the film.  It's to be filld with a HOST of crap 'nu metal' bands, and featuring several previously unreleased tracks by Sepultura, Slipknot, and others.  Anyone who knows me, musically, knows that I can't stand  single one of these bands on this soundtrack, and I feel that they are all a shitload of poseur bands who THINK they're hardcore & heavy metal!  They could've gotten any number of awesome, talented bands like Alice Cooper, Halford, Iron Maiden (who ARE putting out a new album this Summer), Godsmack, Slayer, Danzig, or even Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society.  Instead, they give a group of 16 garbage metal bands the entire DAMN soundtrack!  Here's the damn report:

"The horror-flick fan's dream come true, Freddy Vs. Jason not only looks scary, it sounds equally frightening.  New and previously unreleased tunes from Slipknot and Ill Nino, and a collaboration between Mike Patton and Sepultura lead the charge on the film's soundtrack, which is slated for release August 5, according to a Roadrunner Records spokesperson.  Slipknot's "Snap" was recorded during the sessions that yielded 1999's eponymous breakthrough LP but never saw the light of day until now, while Ill Nino's "How Can I Live" will serve as the soundtrack's single, and also appear on the band's second album, Confession, due September 30. A video for the song will be shot July 8 in Los Angeles.  Former Faith No More and current Fantômas singer Mike Patton recorded "The Waste" with Brazilian metalheads Sepultura during their sessions for 1998's Against, the band's first album without founding singer Max Cavalera.  Rare tracks on the LP include Chimaira's "Army of Me" and Stone Sour's "Inside the Cynic," both of which had only been available as imports. Former Coal Chamber frontman Dez Fafara's new band, Devildriver, makes its debut with "Swinging the Dead," which is also expected to appear on the group's first LP, expected this fall.  The "Freddy Vs. Jason" soundtrack will also be available in three versions: one for "Friday the 13th" fans, with Jason only on the cover; one for "A Nightmare on Elm Street" fans, featuring Freddy's burnt-up mug; and a third with both on the cover."

"Freddy Vs. Jason," which features Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland as one of the female leads, hits theaters August 15 (see "Kelly Rowland Takes On Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees")."

"Track list for the "Freddy Vs. Jason" soundtrack, according to Roadrunner Records:
Ill Nino - "How Can I Live"
Spineshank - "Beginning of the End"
Chimaira - "Army of Me"
Type O Negative - "(We Were) Electrocute"
Slipknot - "Snap"
Stone Sour - "Inside the Cynic"
Devildriver - "Swinging the Dead"
Killswitch Engage - "Darkness Falls"
Sepultura with Mike Patton - "The Waste"
The Blank Theory - "Middle of Nowhere"
Hatebreed - "Condemned Until Rebirth"
Mushroomhead - "Sun Doesn't Rise"
Motograter - "Down"
Shadows Fall - "Deadworld"
In Flames - "Trigger"
Lamb of God - "11th Hour"

The FINAL theatrical poster for the film has arrived online.  Not for purchase, but the image of the poster itself.  If you've seen the recently sighted vertical banners, this will be a familar image to you.  Just hit the link below or hit the mutlimedia page to have a look.  This image comes courtesy of Creature-Corner!

I've updated "THE HISTORY of FvsJ" with the developments of the past month, and a nice graphical revision of this section is apparent.  The navigation bar above is present on all pages of this section now.  Also, that photo from the recent issue of 'Entertainment Weekly' featuring Krueger and Kelly Rowland is online at the multimedia archive under 'BEHIND-THE-SCENES IMAGES'.  Enjoy!

6.23.03
Three new pics (all featuring Lochlyn Munro as 'Deputy Scott') have been added to the multimedia page under "OFFICIAL NEW LINE CINEMA IMAGES".

GREAT NEWS!!!  We finally have news on who is scoring this film. Music from the Movies reports that Graeme Revell's agent confirmed that the composer has been hired to score!  Revell has done the musical scores to such films as "THE CROW", "THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS", "CHILD'S PLAY 2", "BRIDE OF CHUCKY", "PITCH BLACK", "FROM DUSK TILL DAWN", "SPAWN", "SUICIDE KINGS", "PSYCHO IV", "STRANGE DAYS", "DAREDEVIL", "THE CRAFT", the SciFi Channel "DUNE" mini-series, and many, MANY other GREAT films!  This will DEFINITELY make this film just that much better!  His composer filmography speaks for itself as to how DAMN good this man is!  New Line pulls through with a stellar musician to give this film a life all its own!  This is just awesome, and I cannot wait to hear Revell's score & how he melds the musical themes & cues from both series into his own style.  Should be awesome & interesting.

Rumor killers are good, but spoiler killers are better.  A rare thing, but when people brew up bogus spoilers, someone's gotta spread the word.  'Mike' wrote a review of "Freddy vs. Jason", and then sent it to Dark Horizons' webmaster, Garth Franklin.  Of course, Garth has no way of knowing the validity of a review for a film he's never seen.  So, resorting to pure trust, he willingly posts the spoiler-filled review on Dark Horizons.  Apparently, a few members of fridaythe13thforums.com, who HAVE seen the test screenings, confirmed that there were many bogus spoilers in the review, but still, some real ones.  Easily deduced that the pseudo-reviewer simply nabbed spoilers from the already existing online reviews, concocted his own spoilers, and reviewed a film he's never seen.  I'll try speeding things up now.  As Garth & I have become well acquainted over the past several weeks, I jumped at emailing him about the falsified review with the fictional spoilers.  He replied to me saying that he has another source who just told him the same.  The review is still online here, but hopefully, Garth will fix that problem sometime soon (he's quite a busy webmaster, trust me).  Remember, despite it's false spoilers, it still has REAL spoilers taken from previous reviews.  So, still beware of it.

The GODDAMN trailer is ONLINE!  The website has been revamped with LOADS of new stuff like new desktop images, a trivia quiz game (I got a 10 out of 11), and more stuff.  But the trailer is gonna kick your goddam ASS!  This is BEYOND ANY OF YOU!  Go straight to the official site or the trailer site, NOW!

UPDATE #2:  Forget those other links, hit OUR multimedia page above to download the 480x208 sized trailer at 8.4 MBs in a .ZIP file.  Also, once the trailer is finished, it launches your web browser to the official site's trivia quiz, and so, you may want to hault the video before it runs its complete course.  Enjoy!

Just a small, practically meanial update.  ComingSoon.nethas a very small interview with Sean S. Cunningham (who's involvement is purely promotional in nature), and touches on nothing you probably don't already know.  Another general plot description & the possiblity of further Freddy and/or Jason outings if this film becomes successful.

5.9.03
Got two more test screening reviews via AICN.  These are from this past Wednesday's SECOND test screening.  According to some fellow F13forums.com members, all changes were made for the better from the first screening.  Trimmed the less-than-stellar ending, more gore, more nudity, and some things here and there.  Also, once that trailer appears online, I'll do my best to have it hosted here (sooner or later), but no guarantees.

5.5.03
Well, as you can see there's a new link up above.  "THE HISTORY OF FREDDY vs. JASON" is an article written completely by me, Nicholas J. Michalak.  I take my extesnive knowledge of the film's history and place it together in this LONG article.  Starting a short history on each character's creation & film franchise (and I even have a paragraph on each franchises' television series, despite either their non-canoniticity or simple non-relation to the films).  Anyway, it's all there, everything I know about the history of this film is put down into this article.  Every up to this VERY past weekend is included, and the more that develops with the film, more I'll include (in other words, expect periodic updates when warranted).  So, read up on your horror movie history, and enjoy!

5.3.03
Okay, I've posted ALL of the official site photos up on our 'FvJ Multimedia' page (including the teaser poster).  Be warned that some spoilers are laced in a photo or two, but I've attempted to guage them accordingly.  View at your liesure & pleasure.  Also, another test screening review link has been posted on the appropriate page for the one over at Dark Horizons.  Also, I've AGAIN done a reformat on the screening reviews page.  I think I'll keep it this way, looks the best yet.

5.2.03
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!  The Official Site is NOW ONLINE!  It's here & it's AWESOME!  The teaser poster is online, a shit load of AMAZING photots of Jason & Freddy are online, and well, just GO THERE NOW!  I'll have several of the photos online here later tonight.

Okay people, time to a voice an opinion!  The IMDb has a daily poll up for today (Thursday, May 1st), and it asks "Which new summer movie pairing has the most potential?" And one of the choices is "Robert Englund & Ken Kirzinger in Freddy vs. Jason ".  I say go vote for the hell of it all!  I visit their daily poll page everyday, and regularly voice my opinion.  I was excited to see 'FvJ' get mentioned there.  The poll closes at 3am ET (12 midnight on the west coast) tomorrow.

Go here to vote: http://yoursay.imdb.com/Poll/

UPDATE #2: It's coming, my friends!  Bloody Disgusting has come through with the confirmation!  The trailer & posters are arriving in TWO WEEKS!  Here's the report:

"This comes directly from New Line's ordering website: New Line Cinema will debut a teaser poster & trailer for Freddy Vs. Jason the week Matrix opens. The trailer running time is 1:08 and the poster is amazing. Please keep your eyes out for the materials so each can be up for the busy weekend! Banners will be printing for Fourth of July weekend."

"That comes directly quoted from New Line's material ordering site that is for theatre employees. I order for our theatre and just saw that today. It should be warned that not all theatres may put the trailer on the film though. Terminator 3 is supposed to be attached to the film; which means that individual theatres would have to add FvJ to their disgression."

Here's an UPDATE, I have in fact seen this post and have been to this site, but I was asked not to post the link. But Mr D has seen it and this is official!  Also, my New Line contact in response to this writes, "The official site will have some updates soon." So keep your eyes open for updates on New Lines Official site and the Freddy vs Jason sites.

So, keep posted to NewLine.com & Freddy-vs-Jason.com!  Right now, the latter two forward to NightmareonElmStreet.com & JasonX.com, respectively.  It's so close, and yet, so far away.  And no guarantees as to what film you'll see this before, but I'll bet that at least SOME theatres will see fit to throw up before "THE MATRIX RELOADED".  Quite possible.  See ya' at the theatres!

4.21.03
All righty, catch-up time!

First off, I've done my best to compile a list of links to online 'FvJ' test screening reviews.  Just click on over to the 'Test Screening Reviews' page via the link above, and read 'em up.  The odd thing is that with so many sites throwing up links to these reviews, I thought there'd be a whole truck load of these things, but they're only these three reviews over at AICN (aside from the ones I posted last week from Fridaythe13thforums.com).  Those reviews that contain spoilers are marked as such so you can pick & choose which links to follow.  Enjoy!

Also, you may now pre-order the "FREDDY vs. JASON" movie novelization over at Amazon.com. Also, don't worry about being tempted to read it before the film comes out because the novel will not be released until September 1st (a few weeks following the film's release date).  Also, you can also pre-order the "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" remake novelization over at Amazon.com as well (which WILL be published a month BEFORE the film's release).

A poster-like image has been floating around the web recently featuring Robert Englund in Freddy costume, but sans makeup.  It kind of looks like a poster, but it's not.  It's actually from a horror movie spread done by GQ magazine featuring Robert.  That image has been added to the 'Multimedia Page' (hit the link above).

Speaking of Robert Englund, he gave an interview on BBC One recently, and Bloody Disgusting got a nice report of it from a U.K. site-goer:

Bryan E writes in "BBC One had Robert Englund talking about Freddy vs Jason last night! I typed up some of what he had to say,

"Freddy vs Jason looks superb, heck, it is superb. It wouldn't surprise me if fans of the series see it as the definitive chapter in the Krueger saga", says Englund. "Ronny Yu did such a great job. Like Wes Craven, he has a real eye for detail and assured everyone involved in this film it wasn't going to burst like an overboiled hot water bottle. What he has done is take everyone's favourite aspect of the Freddy character, and everyone's favourite bits of Jason, and combine them into a movie that will surely appeal to everyone. Hey, not just fans! Just wait till you see this thing - it's scary, funny, thrilling...im very excited."

Englund then talked about the future.

"We'll Ronny would like to do a whole series of Freddy vs Jason movies. He believes this is the start of a new series. If it happens, great. I think we will all be back. We had such a great time on this movie, it's going to be far from a chore to draw everyone back for seconds."

"Who knows maybe we might even see another solo Freddy movie again, if that's what the fans want."

The interviewer asked about prequel rumors.

"That's the plan, yes. Ronny has sort of taking on a new surrogate father role to Freddy Krueger and Jason, so if any more solo movies come along, he's already told the studio he wants first option on directing them. I've always thought a Freddy prequel would be a wonderful idea, and now with Exorcist, the time feels right. That would be great fun, if only because I'll only be in make-up for like a quarter of the picture. Let's see how Freddy vs Jason does first thought before we get too excited. But yes, it's definitely something Ronny and I have been talking about."

Englund also said his favourite Elm Street was the first - because it was primarily a scary movie - said he would love to direct something again soon, and reflected a bit on the tv series 'V'.

And finally, one behind-the-scenes photo has appeared online via Entertainment Weekly's upcoming Summer Preview Issue.  This is a taste of the spoiler plague, and should be avoided as such by those wishing to be pure of spoiler-related material.  In shorter words, if you don't want to be tainted by spoilers, don't view this image!  It can be accessed via the 'Multimedia Page'.  [CREDIT: BLOODY-DISGUSTING]

I've SCOOPED all their asses!  The first two reviews from the "FREDDY vs. JASON" screener in L.A. last night!  From fellow Fridaythe13thforums.com board members JasonUncut & El Diablo!  No spoilers are contained.  They're more like their reactions to the film.  What they liked & didn't, but very restrained in the spoiler department.  And they are extremely positive with only a few, small things they thought would be tweaked.  The film was not complete.  CGI wasn't complete, a temp music score was used using themes from previous Fridays & Elm Streets.  I'll speak more later as info unfolds on the "FvJ" discussion thread on the forums.

UPDATE:  Another SPOILER-FREE positive review has surfaced over at AICN, but be weary of the second review as it is said to contain spoilers (addressed to "Moriarty").

4.11.03
It's been quite a while, but NEW PICS HAVE SURFACED!  We actually got one of Freddy & Jason together in a frame.  The other two feature some of the women of the film.  No word on a trailer, yet, and the official site has yet to go online.  Keep posted here for when all of that and more comes around.  These photos are courtesy of Empire Movies.

Also, Fangoria states the following:

"The dates just keep on changin’—New Line announced today that two of their upcoming genre features are being pushed back. The TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake is now set to debut January 16, 2004, while the time-jumping psychothriller THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT now lands February 6, 2004. They’re sticking with an August 15 debut for FREDDY VS. JASON, though—and FANGORIA has just signed to do the Official Movie Magazine for the horror hero matchup. Look for this jam-packed special edition on stands August 5."

That's New Line news in a nutshell, and well, too bad for Michael Bay and his bastardized remake of TCM.  January is quite the dumping ground, and it's NOT gonna be a hit in January.  Trust me.  Plus, reshoots are the BIG sign that the film stinks.  But enough about TCM.  Always count on FANGORIA to come through for Freddy & Jason.  That mag will certainly be a BIG seller so either subscribe to FANGORIA now (via their website or pick up the current issue for a mail form) or just be certain to pick it up on Tuesday, August 5th, 2003!  Take care.

Well, Rue-Morgue nabbed an interview director Ronny Yu, and it's a mized bag.  You do get spoilers, but let me tell you that he says that they're NOT making this film for the hardcore fans, but for the masses.  I feel jipped, and this doesn't leave a good feeling with me.  It's the hardcore fans that have begged, waited, and SCREAMED for this film to be made, but it's not being made for us.  Not for the, quote, "HARDCORE FANS WHO MIGHT REMEMBER SOME DETAIL FROM A SEQUEL 10 YEARS AGO."  Well, I hope someone has saved a BIG continuity errors page for this film because that's what I'm expecting now.  Yu says it's a fresh start where they forget everything that's happened before, but they show flashbacks to remind us of what happened before.  WTF?!  Read the interview at your own spoiler-induced risk.

2.26.03
The Alien Online reports that New Line Cinema has worked out a deal with the Games Workshop's Black Library publishing imprint's newest subsidary, Black Flame, to publish novelizations for two of their major horror film releases this year, "Freddy vs. Jason" & "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" remake.  Both novelizations will be released at the same time of each films' respective release dates.  Black Flame has yet to announce who the authors will be for these novels, but we'll be certain to let you know ALL about it when more information becomes available.  Click the link above to read the FULL story on this situation.

It's as official as official can get!  New Line's Movie Publicity site has posted a synopsis along with the official release date of August 15th, 2003!  No more speculation, no more rumors, official confirmation in cyber-black & white!  Here's the OFFICIAL (can't get enough of that word) synopsis:

It has been almost 10 years since one of the scariest horror characters of all time, Freddy Krueger, invaded the dreams of a generation to exact his deadly form of revenge and murder. Now, Freddy has entered into the dreams of another master of evil ? the unstoppable Jason Voorhees -- plunging cinema’s two greatest titans of terror into a battle to end all battles. Directed by Ronny Yu (The Bride With White Hair).  The screenplay is by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Sharkslayer).

2.10.03
Film Jerk reports an August 15th, 2003 release date for "Freddy vs. Jason".  No confirmation has come around from any reliable sources, and so, you should all take this as rumor until such confirmation comes about. UPDATE:FANGORIA.com has confirmed the August 15th release date by way of New Line themselves!  Now, the wating game begins for the debut of the trailer.  Some believe that it will debut before "Willard" this March, but once confirmation comes around on that, we'll let you know.

A New Line source has informed Fango that the studio has set an August 15 release date for FREDDY VS. JASON, which was previously mentioned for June 13 and then fall debuts.

It's a little past 11am this Monday, and I've been up since 3pm Sunday.  I'm gonna try to reach 10 or 11pm for no good reason except maybe "Sleep Kills".  Okay, enough of that crap.  We've got VIDEO INTERVIEWS to send you to.  Remember that batch of behind-the-scenes photos with that weird guy with the plad berét?  That's Nardwaur, and he's got three video interviews.  One is of various cast members, another is of co-star Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child), but the REAL one is of the new Jason, Ken Kirzinger.  The man gives a fun interview while IN COSTUME!  It's very cool stuff, and Kirzinger seems like a fun guy.  Also, some footage being filmed involving Jason.  Englund is not featured at all in these clips (aside from some scenes from past "Elm Street" films).  [CREDIT: BLOODY DISGUSTING]

2.2.03
Another behind-the-scenes photo has arisen on the web.  Bloody Disgusting said they weren't certain of the photos validity as Freddy doesn't look like Robert Englund, I concurr, but "Cody" from Fridaythe13thforums.comstates he's 99% certain of its authenticity, and suggests that it may be stand-in or stunt double for Englund whose in the make-up.  Hopefully, I can find out whether it's Englund or not, but despite some amazing fan costume recreations I've seen in the past, this photo speaks for itself.  Also, it appears that Jason has grown his hair out a bit more since his last visit to Hell.

I found this link to a petiton on the Fridaythe13thforums.com board, and it is to get "FREDDY vs. JASON" to KEEP its Summer release date.  I, Nick, have already signed this petition, and it will take you less than minute to add YOUR name ot this petition.  Bloody Disgusting states:

"Alright Freddy and Jason fans, it's time to unite and try to accomplish the impossible... Get New Line to keep Freddy vs Jason set for a summer release, to get on the top ten list we need over 4000 signatures. Like we have shown you, petitions DO work, and I hope we can win a battle here and try to avoid another Jason X syndrome. So here it is, pass it along, spread the word, the first Freddy vs Jason petition online... GO SIGN UP NOW!" http://gopetition.com/info.php?petid=1979

1.29.03
Unfortunate news from FANGORIA New Line has removed "FREDDY vs. JASON" for its Summer release, and is now considering a date in the Fall.  Perhaps, they're not as confident in the project with films like "THE MATRIX RELOADED", "X-MEN 2", & 'THE HULK" swarming around them at that time.  The date WAS Friday, June 13th, 2003, but it seems as though it's shifted to simply 'COMING SOON".  More on this as it develops.

1.17.03
This is not really news, but I was just watching, in fact I'm still watching, my "FRIDAY THE 13th, PART VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" DVD, and it came to the part where Jason storms into the New York diner.  Some cook approaches him with some choice words, then, Jason just heaves him half way across the room into a wall-mounted mirror.  Who is that guy?  Ken Kirzinger!  That's right, Kane Hodder as Jason heaved-ho'd him like he was NOTHING!  Just a simple obstacle for Jason.  Thought that was a bad-ass thing to deliver to you.  He's uncredited in the film, but the IMDb lists him AS that 'New York Cook'.

1.14.03
New OFFICIAL pics have shown up courtesy of EmpireMovies.com.  On their site, they are previewing pics from New Line's upcoming 2003 films, and they posted two pictures from 'FvJ'.  One is of Freddy, and, of course, the other is of Jason.  Also, note there is NO gash in his mask from the axe in "Part 3, 3-D" which has been in every subsequent film including "JASON X", yet excluding the Jason imposter in "Part 5" (I smell a possible continuity problem if he doesn't get 'axed' again).  Although, if I didn't tell you the Krueger pic was from 'FvJ', you'd think it was a behind-the-scenes photo from the early "ELM STREET"s.  Draw your own conclusions.

Also, if you haven't heard, yet.  A trailer of sorts was screened at FANGORIA's Weekend of Horrors this past weekend, and there hasn't been anything but positive fedback from it.  People say that Jason looks larger than ever, and a great response from the corn field massacre scene that was mentioned earlier on the 'SITE UPDATES' page.  The scene where there is a rave party at a farmhouse of sorts and Jason is flinging slain teens through the corn field that are wearing glow-in-the-dark clothing.  Englund described it as "comets in the night's sky", and that seems to be the census with people.  They say it looks amazing!  We may have one HELL of a trailer in the works, but I remain speculative as the purpose of a trailer is to cut clips of every exciting & dramatic moment into a two & a half minute clip.  The trailer may do it's job exceedingly well, but it's the final product that matters.

Also, a rumor has begun circulating about a theatrical teaser or trailer being attached to "FINAL DESTINATION 2" (also from New Line) which comes out on January 31st.  Now, over at Bloody Disgusting, they checked with their sources @ New Line Cinema, and the rumor came up as a 'negative'.  So, don't go buying your advanced tickets to see the trailer JUST yet.  It's rumor, just like the one back in November that said that some "FvJ' teaser would be attached to "THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS" (which, obviously, was also false).  If confirmation comes around from New Line Cinema, then I will let you know & meet you in line at the box office....maybe.  Hell, I've done it before.  I went & sat through "MONSTER, INC." just to see the first teaser for "STAR WARS: EPISODE II" (not that it was a bad movie, but you get my point).  Any, further news or rumor killers worth reporting, will be reported here.

1.09.03
The Diabolical Dominion has posted up some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos they took with Kirzinger & Englund (both in full make-up), the cast, and the Krueger claw itself.  Nice quality, good stuff.  Check 'em out!  Plus, a few publicity photos I picked up fromBloody-Digusting.com are featured below, but for all of those and MORE goto RobertEnglund.com for even more photos (found under the "Freddy Files").  I cannot download the one's from Englund's site, or else they WOULD be here.  They feature several props including Jason's masks, machete, Freddy's glove, special make-up effects, and just much more.  Well, enjoy these cool promo pics!

FVJ_PROMO1.JPG - FVJ_PROMO2.JPG - FVJ_PROMO3.JPG - FVJ_PROMO4.JPG

Oh, on one side note, considering casting.  Corey Feldman is NOT involved with this film, and on top of that, Jason Bateman has been cast as Tommy Jarvis (according to DarkHorizons.com, who has a full cast-to-characters list).  Although, John D. LeMay & Kari Keegan, listed in the cast when no mention of them has been made in any official capacity.  Plus, Sean S. Cunningham is listed as producer when Cunningham said himself he, nor anyone at Crystal Lake Entertainment, have been allowed involvement in this project (I guess NEW LINE is excising everyone involved with the making of "JASON X" from "FREDDY vs. JASON").  And the credit for Wes Craven as Executive Producer is just laughable as Craven has never had ANY interest in being involved with this film through its entire LONG history.  The credits for Cunningham, Craven, & Victor Miller under "Writers" is simply for character creation credits.  Harry Manfredini & Charles Bernstein get musical credits for the use of their original themes from each film series.  Dan, that's one long side note!

11.04.02
Well, it's the first shot of the NEW Jason, and it doesn't look very good.  Jason looks like a bag lady with his draped clothing & rags.  The mask is bloody, but it looks like he's wearing a helmet or something.  Doesn't look like there's any make-up work to the head itself.  It's weird, and it comes to from the Creature Corner, by way of DarkHorizons.com.  Click below for the photo.

Okay, okay, so, it's not within an hour of air time, so slice n' dice me (a little Halloween humor).  Anyway, not much to report.  The only Jason footage was stock footage from the Paramount F13's & a behind-the-scenes clip of Englund, in Freddy make-up, holding the hockey mask.  Englund did a short interview on the Camp Crystal Lake location in Vancouver.  He said they're filming some hyper-reality sequences, and some dream sequences where Englund will be underwater & they might even set the lake on fire (in a grander scale than in "JASON LIVES", I'd believe).  They had short interview snippets from stars Jason Ritter & Kelly Rowland, but nothing more than fandom talk.  No sight or sound of Ken Kirzinger who is said to be playing Jason Voorhees here.  Hell, not even a look at the make-up, but speaking of which, the Freddy make-up looks all right.  It'll probably look better in the proper lighting.  It's probably closest to that of his make-up for "DREAM WARRIORS", not the rubbery-looking prosthetics he had later in the series (sans NEW NIGHTMARE).  The clothing seems like Englund pulled it out of a time capsule because it all looks just like the classic attire.  Although, I think they probably built a new glove, not redesigned, just a newly constructed one.  The E! News segment lasted for maybe 4 minutes, and I think they were forced to cut out the John  Carpenter interview because of their coverage of the Jam Master Jay (RUN-DMC) murder that happened last night.  Too bad, on both counts.  Anyway, enough with the chatter, get to the screen captures.  Also, I've included a more recent, yet black & white, photograph of Ken Kirzinger I picked up off one of the FridayThe13thFilms.com messageboards.

HOLY SHIT!!! You MUST tune into E! News Daily on the E! Entertainment Cable Network tomorrow!  WHY?!  They're on the set of "FREDDY vs. JASON"!  You'll see Englund's new Freddy make-up, the first look at the new Jason, and just much more!  Any pics I can grab up from it will be posted here within about an hour after air time!  I'm tape recording it on my VCR, and shouldn't be missed!  It airs 6:30pm ET/5:30pm CT this Halloween!  On top of that, they even have an interview with John Carpenter on what makes a frightening feature.

10.15.02
SciFi.com has reported that New Line Cinema is aiming for a release date of Friday, June 13th, 2003!  See a little hint there: "Friday...13th".  We KNOW Jason isn't killed, destroyed, or what not because he's still roaming the Earth until 2010, the year that "JASON X" opens to.  It MAY be a possiblity that a trailer, or simply a teaser, will be shown before "THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS" as New Line releases that film on December 18th (six months before the aforementioned date).  Also, if they wanted HUGE buzz, LOTR, without a doubt, would be their biggest film to attach it to.  Let's hope that "FvJ's" release date doesn't get moved around nearly as much as "JASON X's" (although, I believe things are much more different in this situation).  With "JX", New Line only bought the distribution rights, and SSC Films/Crystal Lake Entertainment produced & filmed the movie.  "FvJ" is completely in New Line's hands.  In anycase, here's to hoping for a Summer 2003 release!

10.01.02
Jason Behr (ROSWELL T.V. Series), Odessa Munroe (OUT COLD), & Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN 4 & 5, URBAN LEGEND) have ALL joined the cast according to the Alberta Weekly. (credit: darkhorizons.com)

9.27.02
The unfortunate news we've all been dreading.  Kane Hodder has officially been replaced as Jason for "FREDDY vs. JASON".  The man taking his place is stuntman/actor Ken Kirzinger.  His only link with Jason is that he was the Stunt Co-ordinater for "FRIDAY THE 13TH Part VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN".  He's handled the stunts for films such as "THIR13EN GHOSTS", "MISSION TO MARS", "SUPERMAN III", and "THE X-FILES" television series.  He also had an on-screen role in the first season "X-FILES" episode, "ICE", and since I have the Season One DVD set, I have captured a few shots of him.  He only appears in the pre-credits sequence as Ritcher (who commits suicide).  Bare in mind, this is a nine year old episode, and so, it's more for an idea of what he looks like.  He's had a few other, small roles in films such as "FUTURESPORT", "ACE VENTURE: WHEN NATURE CALLS", "SCREWED", and some T.V. movies.  Nothing major.  I would estimate he's around 6'5" and hovering around the 200 lbs mark (although, these speculations come from the following screen shots from that episode of "THE X-FILES").

KIRZINGER1.JPG - KIRZINGER2.JPG - KIRZINGER3.JPG - KIRZINGER4.JPG - KIRZINGER5.JPG

In other casting news, Katherine Isabelle (INSOMNIA, BONES), Brendan Fletcher, Gary Chalk (DARK ANGEL T.V. Series, ""BEAST WARS & TRANSFOMERS: ARMADA" voice talent), & Lochlyn Munro (DRACULA 2000, NEEDFUL THINGS, DEAD MAN ON CAMPUS) have all joined the cast.  Isabelle & Fletcher both co-starred in "MAGNESIUM" & "TURNING PAIGE".  Isabelle & Chalk both had roles in "DISTURBING BEHAVIOR" (although, Chalk had an uncreditted role as a "Coach").

9.19.02
All right, some casting news here.  Jason Ritter (son of sitcom star & "BRIDE OF CHUCKY" co-star John Ritter) has been casted to replace the troubled actor, Brand Renfro (APT PUPIL), who left the project a while ago.  It's said that it was a whirlwind casting call for the reluctant, paranoid hero character of Will (name comes from the IMDb).  Also casted is Monica Keena (THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE, ORANGE COUNTY) in an unnamed role.  Other cast members stated on the IMDb include Kenneth Tsang & Kelly Rowland (DESTINY'S CHILD) as Lori.

Crew news here.  David Goyer (BLADE II) has polished up the script, Fred V. Murphy (STIR OF ECHOES) will be the Director of Photography, Bill Terezakis & his WTC Productions will do the special make-up effects, and Mark J. Swift & Damian Shannon are rumored to be the actual screenwriters for the feature film.  There's a LOT of crew info on the IMDb entry for "FREDDY vs. JASON", but I would rather hear crew info from an official source.  Info on the IMDb tends to be posted by the misinformed, and so, I don't really trust it at all until I hear official confirmation.  The producer names stated on the IMDb are Stokely Chaffin (associate), Renee Witt (associate), Douglas Curtis (executive), & Toby Emmerich (executive).  The following crew titles & names are from the IMDb as well, so I will take them as unconfirmed names.  Film Editor: Rick Shaine, Production Designer: John Willett, Costume Designer: Gregory Mah, Special Effects Coordinator: Wayne Beauchamp, & the Visual Effects Supervisor: Ariel Velasco-Shaw.  Filming began in (hate to say I told you so, but...) Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on September 9th of this year.

Still no word on who will play the role of Jason Voorhees, or if the statement that Kane Hodder missed a date on Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors to negoiate for the role is true or not.  It's still an odd situation because I smell the fried brains of an idiot.  It's a sour taste to me that they've decided the only way to have these two classic characters collide is to redesign them & make them more or less foreign to us.  Not to mention they want to downsize Jason's physical stature to be more equal to that of Freddy's (Robert, bulk the HELL up NOW).  It also makes NO sense to replace Kane Hodder in a role that he has practically molded into his own.  I doubt anyone could give as powerful of a performance as Kane Hodder in the guise of Jason Voorhees.  It's simply not fair to the fans.  Everyone wants Kane behind the mask, and it will be a rip-off because the name Kane Hodder has become synonymous with the name Jason Voorhees.  Probably the first person to bring TRUE life to an undead character.  Kane embodies Jason so very well.  He brought an entire personality to the character that no one ever quite did.  He brought a true anger, viciousness, & malice to the character of Jason.  It's an unreplacable performance, and thus, shouldn't be replaced!  Hell, even Robert Englund himself believes so...

"Kane is a friend of mine and it makes this difficult," Englund said. "'Cause I think of Kane as Jason. Nobody does the killing machine like Kane. The only thing I know is, they're looking at people. ... One of the things that may be in the rewrites is that there may be a sequence in a flashback, we may see Jason young. Given that, they may be forced to hire somebody younger." (Quote taken from MTV.com)

On a small note, www.freddy-vs-jason.com has been registered by New Line Cinema, but only forwards you to www.nightmareonelmstreet.com.  It's the site New Line launched when they released the "Nightmare Series" box set on VHS & DVD.  The site hasn't been touched since '99.

HOT NEWS!!!  Well, first off, "FREDDY vs. JASON" is on a definite greenlight, and casting has begun.  Although, the ONLY confirmed cast member is Robert Englund as "Freddy Krueger".  Kane Hodder is said to NOT be involved in the film.  Reasons why are still uncertain, but reports say that Jason is to be re-designed.  They want an actor who can show grief & emotion for the loss of a loved one (beats the hell out of me what this is about).  Rumored cast members include Lisa Wilcox (Alice from 'ANOES 5'), Jason Bateman, & Brian Thompson.

You may know Brian Thompson as the shapeshifting alien bounty hunter from "THE X-FILES", as Stallone's nemesis in "COBRA", as Shao-Khan in "MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION", or from a variety of other diverse roles over the last two decades.  Some speculate that Thompson will take on the role of Jason Voorhees as he is also a tall, muscular man, same as Kane Hodder.  It would be a good choice for a replacement, but it feels like a rip-off.  To "FRIDAY THE 13th" fans, Kane Hodder has been Jason Voorhees for the last FIFTEEN years!  The only person to portray Jason more than once, let alone FOUR times!  For us it's not just "FREDDY vs. JASON", it's "ROBERT vs. KANE".  Both men care much about the characters they portray, and Kane is very protective of Jason's character.  He's well-connected to the fans, and doesn't want to disappoint them by disgracing Jason's classic personae.

Filming is set to take place up in Canada (Vancouver is most likely), and will start this fall.  "BRIDE OF CHUCKY" director, Ronny Yu will direct.  I am uncertain as to who has written the script, but I certainly hope it's a great script.  As far as I know, no one's been mentioned to produce the film or compose the musical score, but Sean S. Cunningham might be involved in the project along with his son, Noel (as they were in "JASON X").  I'm surprised that filming is so close when there's not really any cast or crew connected to this project beyond the scriptwriter, director Ronny Yu, and Robert Englund.  The release date is aimed at Spring/Summer 2003.  It's fifteen years in the making, let's hope it's well worth the wait!
