A few days late, but in five days Saw IV has grossed $35.6 million domestically and an additional $12.4 million internationally.  Can't stop that saw from cutting up the box office, and Lionsgate is gonna keep on hacking away with Saw V & VI in the works.  Haven't seen a monster franchise like this since the 80s, and while I, personally, have yet to see a single entry, it is refreshing to know that one studio has no problem with franchise horror.

SAW IV opens today in theatres, and there's already talk fo SAW V.  In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Costas Mandylor said, "If I said I was going to be in SAW V, I think that would be very presumptuous and the bosses would fire me. But there are a few possibilities they're looking at and I know if the people are pleased with IV then V will happen ? and there must be a small spot in there for me somewhere..."  Also, BDTV has numerous videos covering the film with interviews and such.  Bloody also grabbed a thorough interview with star Scott Patterson last week where he talks very well of the production and other things.  They also posted up their very favorable review of Saw IV.  It will, undoubtedly, be a major box office hit the Halloween week.

Bloody Disgusting has posted up the full press release for the complete Saw IV soundtrack.  While it might be great for lower I.Q. metal fans who actually think OzzFest still has killer lineups, I hardly find any of the bands on this soundtrack to be worth a damn - Drowning Pool, Submersed, Avenged Sevenfold, From Autumn To Ashes, etc.  I'd probably make an exception for Ministry, but I only barely like one of their songs - industrial metal isn't my taste.  Though, I will agree with B-D on one thing - whatever happened to every big horror film release being accompanied by an equally awesome soundtrack?  Where have soundtracks for films like A Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors & The Lost Boys gone?  Oh right, nobody makes films like that anymore.  I'd have thrown the Freddy's Dead soundtrack in there, but I don't want people making films like that ever again.

Break.com has a trailer that was banned from Comic Con featuring the autopsy of Jigsaw.  It's very gory, sticky, and is quite apparent why it was banned.  I'm sure you'll all love it to death!  Lionsgate's Saw IV - directed by Darren Lynn Bousman - opens in theatres on October 26th.

Trailer news!  Hit up Yahoo! Movies to view the freshly chopped together trailer for Saw IV.  Seems more like a teaser, but you can also view the Japanese Saw IV trailer courtesy of Yahoo.  Here in Chicagoland, it is obvious Halloween season is creeping up on us.  And of course, if it's Halloween, it must be Saw.  You can view the scene presented back in July at the San Diego Comic Con here.  We've got four new stills tht should be quite the feast for you hungry eyes below.  Though, if you're more in the giving mood, you needn't wait for Christmas.  The 4th Annual Saw Blood Drive is gearing up.  Since the first SAW blood drive in 2004, SAW filmgoers have donated nearly 38,000 pints of blood to help save as many as 112,500 lives.  Collection totals have doubled year after year resulting in tens of thousands of lifesaving blood transfusions.  Visit Saw4.com for all the information.  Saw IV hits theatres nationwide on October 26th, 2007 from director Darren Lynn Bousman and writers Marcus Dunstan & Patrick Melton.

Saw IV doesn't even have a trailer out, but Lionsgate is already planning the fifth and sixth films in the franchise.  Specifically, they've already chosen a director for both films, and Bloody-Disgusting had the concretely confirmed scoop:

Yes I'm still blind, but the news gets even better this evening. Your #1 source for all things horror, Bloody-Disgusting, has just confirmed through multiple sources that David Hackl, the production designer on Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV and second unit director on Saw II and Saw IV has OFFICIALLY been attached to helm both Lionsgate's Saw V and Saw VI, assuming a hole doesn't form in the Earth and suck the franchise in with it. Will Jigsaw return? I'm sure he will. But this news comes so early don't expect much more until we see how well Saw IV does, which Hackl was once in the running to direct.

Bloody Disgusting had the full cast details along with a plot syopsis for the newest entry in Lionsgate's Saw franchise recently.  Still, much is left to the imagination of exactly what's gonna do down in the film, and who the living antagonist is considering Tobin Bell's Jigsaw bit the dust in the last film.  Also, Lionsgate released the first still from the film a couple weeks ago picturing one very elaborate Jigsaw-style trap with a clock seemingly counting down in the background.

Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead.

Now, upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm and Agent Perez, arrive in the terrified community to assist the veteran Detective Hoffman in sifting through Jigsaw's latest grizzly remains and piecing together the puzzle.

However, when SWAT Commander Rigg is abducted and thrust into a game, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of demented traps and save an old friend or face the deadly consequences.

Tobin Bell --- Jigsaw
Scott Patterson --- Agent Straum
Betsy Russell --- Jill (Jigsaw's wife!!)
Costas Mandylor --- Hoffman
Lyriq Bent --- Rigg
Athena Karkanis --- Agent Perez
Justin Louis --- Art
Simon Reynolds --- Lamanna
Mike Realba --- Fisk
Marty Adams --- Ivan

Furthermore, Bloody-Disgusting caught some words with franchise star Tobin Bell about this new sequel, and how Jigsaw still figures into everything among other tidbits.  Read on for the intriguing, if vague, information.  Unfortunately, no word yet on when a trailer will surface, but I would imagine sometime within the next six weeks considering the film's October 26th release date.

Tobin Bell, who plays the notorious Jigsaw in all of Lionsgate’s SAW films, talked with B-D last night about his return in SAW IV, which hits theaters October 26. There has been a lot of speculation on just how he would be in the film; it was rumored for quite sometime that he would just be seen on TV screens throughout, until director Darren Lynn Bousman confirmed to Bloody-Disgusting that Tobin Bell is “physically” in the new film. While talking to Bell he explained the viewers would understand right off the bat, “Viewers will find out in very first scene of film... how I'm still in it” he tells B-D, “I like how I'm involved.”

He also tells us that the script is not the same as what was shot being that this script evolved during shooting. He explains that it was a “bizarre, last minute way of development.”

Bousman already revealed that there are two new characters in the film, one of which Bell explains he will be in constant dialogue with, “There's a guy in this film we've never met before... one of the disenfranchised of the world,” he explains, “Jigsaw comes into contact with this guy [and he’s] the total opposites of Jigsaw. Many people talk a good game. Right or wrong he steps forward and does what he (Jigsaw) does.” Belll elaborates a bit for us, “This guy he runs into... he’s one of the lost of the world, Jigsaw is extremely educated, and the other guy hasn't had anything…. There is an Interesting dialogue between the two.”

When asked about fans returning for more Bell replied it will be because of a “tremendous ending.”

SAW IV hits theaters October 26

Bloody Disgusting and other sites bring us enough news on Saw IV to shock you back to life!  Some casting news and some production info from director Darren Lyn Bousman.  First off, FearNet offers up director Bousman's own production blog!  B-D chimes in with casting updates:

Bloody-Disgusting has learned this afternoon that Justin Louis has joined the cast of SAW IV. Louis is best known to us genre fans as Luis, Sarah Polley's husband, in the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. He can also be seen in SHOOTER, which is now in theaters. Check out his IMDB listing for his massive credit list.

When we checked in with Bousman to confirm this scoop (which he did), he tells us "I am so stoked - one reason I love this franchise is most everyone has come back on the crew. Same Costume team - same props team - same production designer - DP - AD's - basically everyone... At this point it's like one big dysfunctional family... That holds true with the cast. We have some crazy surprises in store for the fans this year. Stuff no one is expecting."

With a script by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (the crazy dudes behind FEAST), I'm sure plenty of craziness is in store when SAW IV hits theaters October 26. Watch for more news as it comes in.

Arrow in the Head offers up this minor bit of casting info:

Writer/Director Darren Lynn Bousman tells the website, "Yes Lyriq Bent is in fact returning... He is a great actor - and am very excited to be working with him yet again - on part IV. The story is much darker - more fucked up - and much more psychological! Oh yeah and there is some blood too!" Watch for more casting news as it comes in this week!

At this time, actors Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, Lyriq Bent and Justin Louis are all signed on for Bousman's third Saw film, which was written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.  The film hits theatres October 26th, 2007.

Bloody-Disgusting reports the first casting news for Saw IV.  Not particularly Earth-shattering casting for horror fans, but I'm sure someone out there is happy about the casting of a star from The CW Network. Scott Patterson of Gilmore Girls fame is indeed the first casting pick for the sequel helmed by Darren Lynn Bousman and scripted by Feast scribes Marcus Dunstan & Patrick Melton.  Tobin Bell also returns in the film due out this October 26th

Report by Kevin Fehr
It seems that the Saw franchise will live to see a forth installment.  It may throw you off a bit to know that Tobin Bell is said to return, which would demonstrate that Saw IV will perhaps be a prequel of some sorts.  With this series of films however, I suppose the plot is still completely open and we can all be expecting more of the unexpected.  Darren Lynn Bousman is said to yet again take the directors chair.  The script is however written by a couple guys from Project Greenlight (Marcus Dunstan & Patrick Melton), and of who also wrote  the script for the gore soaked extravaganza, Feast.  The forth installment to any horror franchise is generally anything but a home run, but we at FOREVER HORROR promise to keep you updated til the films quick release on October 26th of this year.  Production begins on April 16th with Tobin Bell also signed on for a FIFTH installment!  Keep posted for more news and details.
