“ANOTHER DAY”
(N. MICHALAK)
Got through another day in hell
Slavin’ to earn a livin’
But at the price of my own soul
Waitin’ for that 5-0-0 to go
But it seems like forever
Don’t know if I’ll make it tomorrow
(Chorus)
Another day in the can
Back with the band
But I’ve gotta do it again
Another long day ahead
You know what I said
But now I’ve gotta go to bed
Startin’ it all over again
Just like a broken record
It simply has to reach an end
But I’m lovin’ life too damn much
Too much to back out of it
I’m just survivin’ too damn much
(Chorus)
Another day in the can
Back with the band
But I’ve gotta do it again
Another long day ahead
You know what I said
But now I’ve gotta go to bed
Get me outta here
I wrote this song about the seemingly endless
cycle it is getting up, going to work, waiting for that "5-0-0 to go",
going home, hangin' around, going to sleep, and it starting all over again.
It continues on for so long that it seems like hell. Plus, dealing
with such friggin' annoying, dumbass customers doesn't help much either.
It also gets to a point where you ask yourself "when is it all going to
end". You want to quit, you can't stand this endless cycle, but you
know you can't quit because you need this job to survive in the real world
(which is another pain in the ass I'm sure to write about). So, basically
the song is about how you're just down to getting throught that next day
at work, emotions and such aside, it's just another day at work.
Also, I gained some inspiration from Soul Asylum's "I CAN'T EVEN TELL"
from the soundtrack to Kevin Smith's classic "CLERKS".
