“LOCK UP”
(N. MICHALAK)

Accused, tried, & convicted
For a crime I never commited
Now my world is so much restricted

Restricted to this cell
25 to life
It’ll be an endless hell
And dammit, it ain’t right

(Chorus)
  Locked up
  Shut up
  Knocked down
  And beat up
  Forever bound
  I’ve had enough
  Of this lock up

Bruised, beaten, & defeated
Will I be electric seated
Or forever be defeated

Defeated by a lie
One truth I know
But with me, It’ll die
Will they ever let me go

(Chorus)
  Locked up
  Shut up
  Knocked down
  And beat up
  Forever bound
  I’ve had enough
  Of this lock up

No one hears my cries
They’ll let the truth die
Without a care
And without a tear

Help me, help me, free me

This song is basically about a man who's been accused, tried, and convicted of a crime he never commited (most likely murder).  He sits in his cell alone, with no one to listen to his cries of truth.  He doesn't know if he's to be sentenced to death (thus, "electric seated"), or be left to rot in this cell for the rest of his life.  This song came about as I was sitting at work thinking about this 12 hour overnight shift I had to work because the usual night guy was on vacation, and so, 12 hours in this printing prepress department seemed to be like a "lock up".  I can't leave, and no one will let me leave until my time has come to be relieved of this burden.  Plus, I had been up since 8:30am, and had to stay up for a total of about 22 hours, non-stop.  I slept well.
