Originally titled "FRIDAY THE 13TH: PILGRIMAGE," but altered to "THE LIVING END" by director Jason Pavlik's request.  I chose to finish the fan film Jason & I started shooting over Memorial Day Weekend, 2003.  The original edit of this was just a fun activity for me, and wasn't meant to be a finished fan film by any means.  Though, this year, I chose to remedy that by shooting new footage and a brand new scene starring MYSELF, sans hockey mask & machete!  The scene was also scripted by me, and so, I now have garnered a writing credit on it.  Though, I was the only one who actually WROTE anything as everyone's dialogue, besides my own, was 100% ad-libbed on-the-spot.  I re-edited everything, inserting the new footage, totally redid the opening and end titles, added new music, and more!  "FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE LIVING END" is now as complete of a fan film as I can single handedly make it (well, with some help from my wonderful sister Diane - who has a '2nd Unit Camera Operator' credit).

The audio has been fixed up considerably from the original edit as it has been amplified and the volume has been as equalized as possible, but it's still not perfect.  Considering how the live audio was recorded (by a built-in camera microphone), there's just a great amount of background noise that is simply impossible for me to completely filter out, but the dialogue is much more audible now despite the audio imperfections.  Now, I originally planned to upload the Sorenson Video 3 exported version, but with that codec, the file was several HUNDRED megabytes in size, and no matter what I did, I simply could not bring it down to a reasonable file size.  There's just FAR too much audio and video information here that requires a good deal of bitrate to present it properly.  Though, I do believe that the quality here is still somewhat better than the original "PILGRIMAGE" edit.  Mainly because I have done all I can do to minimize the amount of passes through the compressors as possible (the original version made many runs through different codecs before reaching completion).  Now, I didn't discard the editing work I originally did - I merely added to it.  The scenes that were in the original edit are here in the same form, but with a little extra dialogue added along with a smoother transition in one intricle spot.  I am far more content with this version of the fan film that the original, and I believe you all will be as well - including my friend & fellow fan filmmaker Jason Pavlik!    It's not the very best we had hoped it to be, but really, it's mainly a fun exercise in filmmaking instead of a serious project.  So, here it is with a brand new poster and a brand new edit!  Enjoy it fully, and send us all the feedback you wish, or you can post your comments at the discussion thread at FridayThe13thforum.com!

Also, major thanks to Hank Braxtan of BraxtanFilm for providing those FRIDAY THE 13TH score tracks to me!  Check out Hank's FANTASTIC new fan film - "FREDDY vs. GHOSTBUSTERS"!  It's an endlessly entertaining and memorable fan film which is a true tribute to the legacies of BOTH franchises!  That is the total TRUTH!
