BUY HALLOWEEN 4 DVD

"Halloween 4" is, in my honest opinion, one of the VERY best slasher sequels ever!  It holds quite close to John Carpenter's original style and look of the first "HALLOWEEN", and Alan Howarth (who is a frequent collaborator with John Carpenter) holds true to Carpenter's original, chilling music.  George P. Wilbur does a fine job in his first of two times behind the ghostly white mask of "The Shape", Michael Myers.  His second"stab" at it would be the sixth film in the series, "HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS".  I enjoy that installment as well (in both the theatrical and producers' cut).  And director Dwight H. Little captures the same feel as John Carpenter's original.  This is a serious MUST-SEE for any "HALLOWEEN" fan!

I was concocting an idea for a trailer to the original "HALLOWEEN", but I hadn't yet embarked on the project yet.  So, I quickly began forming an idea for a "HALLOWEEN 4" trailer.  I wanted to build up to the reveal of Myers.  Give you the hints that it's "THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS", but not reveal him until enough was built up, dramatically.  There were a few ideas that got jettisoned just by way of how the trailer was constructed.  Though, I decided it was too short on first construction, and so, I went ahead and inserted more about Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris), and I also jettisoned almost all of the parallels to the film's actual theatrical trailer.  Some moments removed mainly because they just weren't working correctly in the audio or video editing.

The final addition to the trailer was actually the first thing IN the trailer.  It's dialogue against a black screen.  A recall of Dr. Loomis' (Donald Pleasance) dialogue to Sheriff Brackett in the first film of when he first met Michael Myers, as a child.  Saying he had "the blackest eyes . . . . the devil's eyes."  It was a simple addition, and I hadn't thoguht of it until quite later on in the editing process.  So, I figured I'd not mess around with the timeline in Adobe Premiere and just add it in using QuickTime Pro.  It adds the first, looming hint as to what film this trailer is for.

I created two title images for this trailer.  The title "HALLOWEEN: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS", and "OCTOBER 21ST: THE TERROR RETURNS".  And yes, I used a small, woodwind stinger from the "FREDDY vs. JASON" score CD.  Everything else is "HALLOWEEN" music.  Hope you enjoy the trailer as the Halloween season is now upon us!
