 I
was searching for a trailer to create using either a Black Label Society
or Judas Priest song. I was brainstorming over the two "HIGHLANDER:
ENDGAME" trailers, and "SOME HEADS ARE GONNA ROLL" came to mind.
Though, I wasn't too crazy about putting together a trailer for that film
(not that I don't very much like it). Then, as I peered through the
list of files, the two "SLEEPY HOLLOW" trailers made it click instantly!
I said, "OH YEAH!" and I forged ahead.
I decided that the only real course of action was to capture
the video off of my "SLEEPY HOLLOW" DVD (including the two trailers), and
make this thing a "RED BAND" trailer, due to the actual showing of the
various decapitations, despite the manner they are depicted. Tim
Burton chose to make such scenes in the film have a bit of a humorous "spin"
on them, and I think I retained that in some form here. The use of
"SOME HEADS ARE GONNA ROLL" certainly brings a tongue-in-cheek sense to
the trailer. I didn't originally intend this to be a teaser, but
it just turned out that way due to timing & editing. But I think
this would've been pretty cool to witness in the theatre.
Also, this teaser marks the first time I actually worked
with more complex audio editing. Trimming out pieces of score for
the benefit of retaining certain sound effects that I should've practiced
for my T3 trailer (which has no sound effects in the 2nd half of the trailer
due to my soundtrack editing. Also, I edited two "slicing" sound
effects together for the clip where Casper Van Dein gets sliced in two,
Darth Maul style. I'm always amazed how well my soundtrack editing
fits with the visuals, usually by coincidence or accident. Lucky
me, huh? |
